Welcome to our school community

North Cadbury Church of England Primary School is a popular small school in a beautiful rural setting, which provides unique learning opportunities for our children who are at the centre of all that we do. Christian values flow through all that we are and all that we hope to give our children.  We have strong links with the local community.   We aim to provide an exciting learning environment where every member of our school feels valued as an individual, nurtured and cared for, thus enabling us to be a community of successful learners who face challenge with enthusiasm and confidence.  We believe that education is about more than academic achievement.  It is about spiritual growth, learning moral standards and developing each individual child’s potential, enabling each one of them to become the person that they were created to be.

We believe that learning should be an exciting journey, where pupils feel confident to take risks and are provided with opportunities to explore their interests, acquiring a firm knowledge and skills base, whilst feeling secure within the boundaries of clear expectations.  We provide a broad and balanced curriculum that is tailored to suit our context and the needs of our children and makes use of the local resources available to us, both in the form of visitors and the local and wider environment.  We take every opportunity to take the children’s learning outside of the classroom.  Music and Sport play an important part in our curriculum.  All children in KS2 learn to play a brass instrument.  Our school choir, the Jelly Ghosts enjoy performances that include entertaining senior citizens in our community.  Our children have the opportunity to compete in a surprisingly large range of sporting tournaments for a small school.

Being a small school means that we are very much like one big family, where each individual respects the rights of, takes responsibility for and supports every other member.  We have a School Council who are democratically elected and represent the voice of the pupils within the school.  We celebrate the diversity within the communities that we are part of – local, national and global.  We are particularly excited about our partnership with Yueyang Primary School in the Hunan province of China and the opportunities that that affords.  By developing tolerance and mutual respect for people of different cultures, faiths and beliefs we aim for our children to become responsible citizens who will make a positive contribution to society.

We recognise the importance of parents and the school working together in a strong partnership to enable children’s learning to be effective.  We have a strong PTAFA and we welcome parents into school as volunteers to help in class and to attend workshops as well as valuing their support with children’s homework.  We operate an open door policy and encourage parents to discuss issues with staff immediately they arise.

Our children enjoy learning and leave our school with skills that will allow them to feel that they can make a difference to both their own lives and the lives of others.

We would love the opportunity to show you our school.  Please do explore our website to learn more about us and ring or e-mail the school office to arrange a visit.
